Sun TV Moves Madras High Court Over CSK Promo Music

Media company Sun TV Network has approached the Madras High Court alleging that Chennai Super Kings used music from the films Jailer and Coolie in a promotional video without authorisation. Sun TV claims ownership of the sound recordings and has sought an order restraining further use of the music in the team’s promotional material.

Phone and Computer Interface Layouts Can Be Registered Designs: Calcutta High Court

The Calcutta High Court observed that screen icons, graphical user interfaces and layout elements used in phones or computers may qualify for protection under the Designs Act, 2000. The observations came while examining whether visual elements appearing on digital screens can fall within the scope of design protection.
